Windows is a great operating system to use as long as you can get all the bloatware out of the way. While the OS itself can run pretty well regardless of your hardware specs, the dozens of pre-installed apps that you’re never going to use and unnecessary services you didn’t ask for.
There are ways to quickly remove Bloatware from Windows 11, but they’re not tools anyone would be comfortable using. These are often scripts with an interface that let you target and clean specific areas within Windows. This new, open-source tool promises to help you fix that and gain some performance in the process.
Windows is more bloated than you think
From background apps to hidden telemetry, Windows 11 is heavier than ever
Windows is full to the brim with tools and programs that you might never use, especially when it comes to laptops. Manufacturers often load up factory Windows installations on laptops with bloatware from their partners for some extra cash. This includes antivirus programs, system control utilities, browsers, and all sorts of different programs you don’t need.

There are hacks for a faster, cleaner Windows 11, but what you really want are the system control utilities that the manufacturer installs to control your PC’s fans, power modes, keyboard backlighting, and any other features. That’s it. These tools are also often performance hogs and will eat up your memory in the background. Depending on your PC manufacturer, you should be able to find third-party options that are better optimized and don’t consume as many resources in the background.
Regardless, removing bloatware is one of the first things you should do when setting up a new PC or finishing up a clean Windows install. There are tools like FreeTimeTech’s Windows 11 Debloater tool that get the job done effectively, but they aren’t necessarily the easiest to use, especially if you’re not entirely sure of what you’re doing.
Sparkle can fix Windows
This open-source tool rips out Microsoft’s bloat with surgical precision
Sparkle is a Windows optimization tool that can remove bloatware, help you run system maintenance, and has a bunch of useful Windows tweaks. All of this is wrapped into one of the best-looking and most user-friendly Windows debloaters I’ve ever used.
Sparkle’s tweaks are divided into categories like appearance, performance, privacy, gaming, and more to help you quickly find and apply the specific changes you want. The tool can handle anything from disabling telemetry services, location tracking, background camera access, tweaks for Nvidia GPUs that reduce latency and improve rendering performance, network optimizations, and just about everything you’d need tweaked.
Each tweak comes with a clear explanation of what it does and why it’s useful. This helps new users understand the changes they’re making, and only tweak what’s actually required.

The standout tweak Sparkle has to offer is its one-click debloating tool. It lets you choose between Sparkle’s custom debloat script or Raphire’s Win11Debloat script to remove built-in Windows apps and bloatware. The primary difference between the two is that the Sparkle script lets you choose what programs you want to keep, while Raphire’s Win11Debloat script automatically applies recommended changes.
Apart from debloating Windows, Sparkle also includes a built-in system cleanup tool that safely removes unnecessary files clogging up your drive. You can delete anything from temporary system and application files, old prefetch data, the Windows update cache, and empty the recycle bin.
There’s also a backup and restore system, an app installer that quickly lets you install multiple programs across categories at once, and several advanced optimizations, such as disabling dynamic ticking or enabling HPET (High Precision Event Timer) for reduced stuttering and better timing accuracy on some hardware.
One thing to keep in mind is that, as handy as Sparkle is, it’s not doing anything new. It’s essentially a fancy interface that lets you control Windows settings and run built-in Windows tools to perform general maintenance, tweaks, system cleanups, create restore points, and more.

Real-world performance benefits
The difference isn’t just in benchmarks—you can feel it
The performance improvement you get from getting rid of bloatware is hard to measure in numbers. It’s not like you’re adding more performance to the system; it’s just that you’re giving resource-intensive apps more resources to work as expected.
For reference, my HP Omen Transcend 14 managed 1,564 and 11,480 in Cinebench R23’s single-core and multi-core benchmarks, respectively. After applying Sparkle’s one-click bloatware removal tweak, those scores jumped up to 1,614 and 12,879.

The biggest difference, however, came in the form of system resource usage. Before any tweaks, I was constantly sitting at around 15 to 20 percent CPU usage and 50 to 60 percent RAM usage. With Sparkle, I was able to bring it down to less than five percent CPU usage and 20 to 30 percent RAM usage on idle.
So, while running Sparkle won’t magically let you run all your games at over 60 FPS on max settings, it will make your daily user experience significantly better. With Windows consuming as few system resources as possible, you’re getting significantly more horsepower to run anything from CPU or GPU-intensive programs like Photoshop, Premiere Pro, to your games. I also noticed slightly improved battery life.
There was also an improvement in system stability under load. System slowdowns under heavy loads nearly disappeared until I pushed my PC to its limits. There are several proven steps you can take to avoid Windows 11 slowdowns, but getting rid of unnecessary services and bloatware makes a huge difference.
Debloating Windows is important
Microsoft keeps adding fluff — and tools like Sparkle keep fighting back

If you’re tired of Windows feeling sluggish and invasive, Sparkle offers a genuinely helpful solution. The performance benefits are real, the privacy benefits are substantial, and unlike most optimization tools, it’s actually pleasant to use.
Your computer should feel fast and responsive, not like it’s constantly fighting against itself. Sparkle helps you reclaim that experience by stripping away the digital cruft that Microsoft insists on shipping with Windows. For something completely free, open-source, and that takes less than 10 minutes to set up, Sparkle’s impact on your daily computing experience is impressive.
